W’town Rural Lands Guided Hike ascends Taconic Crest Trail – meet 9:00am, Sat, July 6 @ Petersburg Pass parking lot.

This scenic hike ascends to the crest of the Taconic Range (average elevation 2200’), with fine views both east and west. Meet at 9:00 am at Petersburg Pass parking lot, Rt.2. Carpool from there. Strenuous. Visit WRLF.org for details.

The Taconic Crest Trail, built in the 1920s, extends 35 miles from Pittsfield to Petersburg, NY. Hike up and over Berlin Mountain (elevation 2798’), see a stunning 360-degree view, pass the Berlin Pass Trail and go around Mt. Raimer to Petersburg Pass, with another great look down into the valley.

Rocket Building Workshop for Kids! – FREE – 11:00 am, Mon, July 8 @ Milne Public Library.

Ed the Wizard & his Rocket and Airplane Building Workshop for kids on Mon, July 8, 11:00am at the David and Joyce Milne Public Library. Children will learn how to build their own air-powered rockets and airplanes. They will learn the basic properties of flight as you test your skills for: flight length, flight accuracy, controlled banks, turns, and stunts. This program is free and is appropriate for ages 7 and up, but does require registration. Call the library at 413-458-5369.

The program is part of the Milne Public Library’s Summer Reading Program A Universe of Stories, and is supported in part by a grant from the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

League of Women Voters invite all to march in July 4th Parade in Williamstown!

Join the League of Women Voters & march in JULY 4th PARADE in honor of passage of women’s suffrage! Wear white shirt! All ages & genders welcome! Williamstown parade will line up on Southworth St. at 10:30am. The parade route is the traditional march up Main St. & down Spring St.!

Filmmaking Workshop for kids 11-14 yrs old- July 8-12 @ BCC, Great Barrington campus

Berkshire Film and Media Collaborative & Berkshire Community College offering a week-long workshop July 8-12. The workshop will focus on creating an original short film as a team. Learn about: story structure, character development, screenwriting, cinematography, sound recording, lighting, acting, editing, sound design and marketing.  Special screening of the completed film on the last day!

Ceremony begins at 12pm w/ Speakers & a symbolic celebration of Louison House past, present, and future in our community.

June 26 marks 3 years from the 2016 Louison House fire.   This event is a thank you to the community and our funders for helping us secure the funding needed to rebuild hope.  Through this support we’ll be able to bring both buildings into compliance and will meet the needs of our organization and residents.
