Our mission

A community media hub for Williamstown and the Berkshires we call home.

A platform for grassroots democracy and community engagement: we anchor civic life in Williamstown by broadcasting town government and making it accessible to every resident, and we give Williamstown residents and schools — and nonprofits and cultural institutions across the region — free access to video technology, training, and a platform to be seen and heard.

Jack Criddle

Production Manager

Public access TV is an invaluable tool for a community that thinks globally and acts locally. As Production Manager at WilliNet, I am proud to facilitate community engagement in Williamstown and throughout the Berkshires, whether we’re broadcasting municipal meetings, co-producing arts, politics, or culture-related shows with local citizens, or running media-making workshops with local schoolchildren.

Favorite documentary:
The Atomic Cafe (1982)

The book I’d bring if stranded on a deserted island: A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole

Favorite gear:
It may be the recency bias talking, but I’ve been enamored with the Holland Lark M2 wireless bluetooth mics.

My vision for Willinet in 5 years is that we’re still going strong as a hub for all of Williamstown and Northern Berkshires’ civic, social, and artistic enrichment.

PRODUCTION TECHNICIANS AND INTERNS

Peter Gentile

Peter lives in Cheshire with Tara and his two stepchildren, Kie and Emma. In his rare spare time, he enjoys keeping tropical fish, gardening, and working on his cars.

Favorite documentary: Rats (2016) by Morgan Spurlock.

Desert Island Book: Any U.S. President biography.   I especially like Theodore Roosevelt, Willian McKinley and Warren G Harding.

Favorite filming gear:  The wirecast PC based switcher.

Vision for WilliNet:  It astonishes me all they/we do now.  Honestly, folks here don’t know what a jewel they have here!  The programing and coverage, innovation, live events, is better than most access studios with five times the budget and three times the paid staff.  Bravo Willinet!!

Nolan Smith

Production Technician

Nolan Smith is a Production Technician at WilliNet with a BA in Media & Screen Studies/Film Production from Northeastern University. He brings a passion for filmmaking and production in all its forms. As a municipal employee in Pittsfield, Nolan understands the importance of making local government accessible through coverage of municipal meetings and community events.

Favorite documentary: Free Solo. Nolan is fascinated by the pursuit of a self-imposed challenge that pushes against fundamental human instincts.

Desert island book: A collection of Edgar Allan Poe’s works. A horror fan, Nolan admires Poe’s distinctive mastery of the genre.

Favorite filming gear: A tie between Ronin gimbals and Sony cameras. He appreciates Ronin’s straightforward, effective stabilization and Sony’s combination of accessible setup and sophisticated controls.

Vision for WilliNet: Nolan would love to expand coverage of nonprofits and events throughout Williamstown and the Berkshires, helping capture, preserve, and share more of the remarkable things happening across the county.

Court Chatelier

Intern

Court Chatelier is a podcaster, poet, and assistant producer at WilliNet Community Television. They’re a fan of media that teaches them something new, whatever the format.

Favorite documentary: Ask E. Jean, though they are pretty sure You Can See Everything will take the top spot.

Desert island book: A Registry of My Passage upon the Earth by Daniel Mason.

Favorite gear: A laptop!

Vision for WilliNet :Would love to see WilliNet produce more original, independent programming and help people across the Berkshires bring their creative ideas to life. Their local community television studio in Broward County, Florida, helped them grow as a creator, and they hopes WilliNet can do the same for others.

Danielle Dominguez

Danielle Dominguez is a production assistant intern at WilliNet and a nontraditional student at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Music Industry and Production.

board

Mary M. Strout

Board Chair

I joined the WilliNet board because I believe in its mission – to provide citizens free access to video technologies and training for telling their stories and to be an accessible and vital connection to Town government and democratic engagement.  Additionally, I’m proud of the dedicated staff and producers who ensure that community stories are told, underscoring the profound importance of local community media.

I’ve been active in our community having served on the boards of Williamstown Chamber of Commerce, Williamstown Community Chest, Elder Services of Berkshire County, Williamstown Historical Museum and as a clerk at Chapter Two Books.

Currently retired, my professional work had been primarily in banking, having worked at MountainOne Bank, in various capacities for over twenty years.

Maggie Clark

Vice Chair

To me, Willinet is three things: a portal, a witness, and an archive. In all these ways, Willinet educates us and sustains our sense of community. Our function as a town, a democracy, and a home depends on this work. Willinet holds the thread that connects us, reminding us of who we are, who we have been, and who we might become.

Martin Mitsoff

Treasurer

I am enthusiastic about promoting Willinet’s worthwhile civic objectives and about supporting its wonderful team of folks dedicated to the profound importance of our local community television.  Willinet — just like our local government, local schools and local cultural offerings — is all about the meaningful partnerships we create that knit us together.

Martin has been an active participant in local community life, having served as an elected select board member, elected library trustee, conservation commission member, and board of health member as well as having been a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician (EMT) in southern Berkshire County.  In addition to his WilliNet board role, he currently volunteers with the Friends of Milne Public Library, helping sort donations for Chapter Two Books.  Martin’s professional work was in corporate, municipal and personal finance.

Bill Jannen

Secretary

When I interned at Willinet in 2005, I immediately felt that it was special. The people—the Willinet staff and all the community members that contribute to the programming—all want to make their community a better place. As I continue to strengthen my roots in Williamstown, I hope to share my community vision and help others to realize theirs.

Brianna Christie

Board Member

As the go-to communication person at the Milne Public Library, I understand the importance of civic engagement and how communication plays a role in building community connections. I am ecstatic to be on the WilliNet board as community television is an important way to continue fostering town knowledge and belonging.

Ben Lee-Cohen

Board Member

Serving on both the WilliNet and Milne Library boards, I focus on expanding access to local stories and media-making tools. WilliNet’s production resources are essential for helping more residents tell their own stories and engage with local media.

Gerol Petruzella

Board Member

I joined the WilliNet board because I believe a strong community thrives when people are empowered to speak, learn, and connect. Technology mediates our speech: I’m passionate about making media access a space for inquiry, dialogue, and civic participation, helping bridge technology and humanity so that everyone in our community can share, receive, and engage with information that matters.
