“Mohican Travels Through Storymapping” multimedia talk on Fri, Sept. 22, 2:00pm at Williams College, Griffin 3.

Maggie Bennett, a member of the Stockbridge Munsee Community will be give a multimedia talk — Bridging geographic information systems, photography, history, and even archaeology, storymapping allows indigenous and non-indigenous learners alike to associate modern day sites with Mohican history.

In addition: On Saturday, Sept. 23, 11:00am Bennett will be giving a talk at The Mission House in Stockbridge, MA, as part of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community’s exhibit/speaker series, “Our Lands, Our Home, Our Heart / Nda’keenã , Weekeyaak , Nda’anã.” The event at The Mission house is a ticketed event. Mass MOCA presents: “Walk with Amal: Musical Magical Tour” 1pm, Sunday, Sept. 10.

All are invited as we welcome Little Amal to North Adams. Amal – whose name means “hope” in Arabic – is an internationally celebrated 12-foot-tall puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee girl. She has been welcomed by more than 250 uniquely created artistic events across the globe since 2021.

As Amal approaches MASS MoCA’s gates, she wonders, “What is this place, and is it for me?” Join her to experience the sights, sounds, and energy of North Adams’ vibrant community.
