The goals of Northern Berkshire Community Coalition’s monthly forum are to 1) Raise awareness about incidence and impacts of alcohol misuse and vaping in our region; 2) Talk about why people are misusing alcohol and vaping products; and 3) Learn about the supports for harm reduction, quitting, and recovery.  Forum takes place 10am-noon, Fri, Nov 8, at The Green, 85 Main St, N. Adams.

We will be conducting a short poll, so please bring your smartphone, tablet or laptop.

Also note that the organizers of the Al Nelson Friendship Center Food Pantry at 45 Eagle Street ask friends who attend the nbCC forums to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the pantry.

Celebrate FIRE PREVENTION WEEK! This year’s theme is “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!”

Teams of student volunteers will provide basic comfort measures such as installing window kits, door sweeps, hot water pipe insulation, energy-efficient light bulbs, & more on Sat. Nov, 16. All materials are paid for by the Williams College Zilkha Center for Environmental Initiatives. Each group will be led by a trained team leader.

Homeowners who are seeking to lower their energy costs and who cannot weatherize themselves are encouraged to sign up for this free program. If you are interested in having volunteers come to your house to weatherize through the Winter Blitz, please contact the 2019 Winter Blitz Planning Committee by one of three ways by Nov. 1:

The program is a collaboration between Williams College, Bennington College, MCLA, and is accepting homes in Williamstown, Pownal, North Adams, Adams, Bennington, and northern Lanesboro.

League of Women Voters is sponsoring a Candidate Forum for the 2 contested races for the 2, newly-created, seats on the Williamstown Fire District Prudential Committee at 7:00pm, Tue, Oct. 22 at W’town Town Hall.  Public is invited.  The Forum will be rebroadcast on WilliNet TV channel 1303 & available on willinet.org.

Candidates for one 18-month term are David Moresi & Gerard Smith.

Candidates for one 30-month term are Richard Reynolds & Bruce Macdonald.

Fire District election takes place at WES on Tue, Nov 19, 3:30-8:00pm.
