Join W’town Community Chest FUN RUN & WALK on Sat. Sept. 18 at 9:00am!

The Williamstown Community Chest is pleased to announce they will sponsor their 13th Fun Run on Saturday, September 18, 2021. This community event consists of two races: 5K Run and a 1-mile Kid’s Run/ Family Walk. The Fun Run races are open to everyone; veteran runners or first time runners, along with daily walkers or occasional walkers. Families with pets and strollers are also welcome to join the fun.

Both race events begin at 9:00 am at the Williamstown Youth Center (66 School Street). Registration and check in will be at 8:30 a.m. the day of the race.

The cost for the 5K race is $15.00 per runner and for the 1Mile Walk/Run $5.00 per individual or per walking family. Scholarships are available; please contact our office (458-2443 or info@williamstowncommunitychest.org) for more information.

Spring Street storm drain “smoke” testing 8:00am – 3pm, THU, Sept. 10

Williams College Mechanical Trades will be adding a harmless tracing “smoke” to a storm drain in the parking lot of the Towne Field House to trace the pipes upstream. A smoke-like vapor may come out of storm drains on Spring Street during the test.  It will quickly go away.

Northern Berkshire SPIRIT Forum to address issue related to racial equity & diversity. Join this facilitated conversation 4-8pm Wed 8/11 & Thu 8/12 at MASS MoCA

All are welcome to join community members from local government, law enforcement, faith-based communities, civil rights groups, community-based organizations, youth groups, to identify & address critical issues related to racial equity and diversity.  Organized by Northern Berkshire-SPIRIT Forum (Solving Problem Identification and Resolution of Issues Together)

takes place at MASS MoCA, Building 6, North Adams.  We’re asking all attendees to wear masks, regardless of their vaccination status. Masks will be available at registration should you forget yours.

Food will be provided. Registration isn’t required to attend, but if you will need childcare, please let us know in advance at 413-663-7588.

Norwegian Film Festival – 4 films FREE thanks to Images Cinema & The Clark throughout August!

Astrup: Catching the Flame, a biopic about artist Nikolai Astrup’s life story, kicks off 4 week festival (August 4-10). Visit The Clark current exhibition: Nikolai Astrup: Visions of Norway thru Sept. 19. The show celebrates the innovative Norwegian painter, printmaker, and horticulturist Nikolai Astrup (1880–1928).

Nikolai Astrup grew up in a strict religious community, Astrup broke with his priest father at a young age & escaped to the continent to immerse himself in the world of art.

Additional movies in the Norwegian Film Festival:  Hope (August 11–17), What Will People Say (August 18–24), and the award-winning documentary The Men’s Room (August 25 –31).
