Kermit Roosevelt III, law professor at Univ. of Penn., is the author of “The Nation that Never Was”, a discussion of the significance of the post-Civil War constitutional amendments & their importance for interpreting the current national self-image.
During the first half of the 2022-23 school year, PEN America’s Index of School Book Bans lists 1,477 instances of individual books banned, affecting 874 unique titles, an increase of 28 percent compared to the prior six months. Local authors & educators convene to read aloud from books banned across the US. Event sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the Milne Public Library, & Friends of the Milne Public Library.
